Work responds to a bespoke poem by Simon Armitage and the general theme of Freedom in 4 unique local communities . Work includes a Documentary, Zines, Poetry and murals. The project has been recorded for national archives and will form part of our national celebrations and a UK tour in 2026 starting at The South Bank Gallery London see Home - Our Freedom
Warwickshire Libraries NPO is an Arts Council-funded National Portfolio Organisation. Arts In Action received their inaugural commission as an NPO for the Green Futures, Art and Sustainability Stream over 12 months. Sessions took place for ages 2-92, at various libraries and community groups, including those for people with disabilities and Home-educated children. Participants utilised recycled materials to craft collaborative weavings and collages that formed a large artwork touring the libraries. Additionally, a celebration day featured art activities, poetry, and more! The work has toured Warwickshire and a second commission was awarded for the following year.
AIA won the second Warwickshire Libraries NPO project 'The Big Green Tour' to complete community engagement sessions in 22 Warwickshire LSOA's which will cumulate ina celebration day aand event on Earth Day 2025. The co created work is all made using recyclables. With a focus on reuse, restore, reclaim, recycle.
